Should I? {Moving Company Edition}
Picture this: The movers are at your home for day #1 of packing and recording all of your household goods. Its nearing lunch time you keep checking the clock! They clearly didn't bring lunch but they also haven't asked for a lunch break, yet. You know that it could be several hours before they return if they go get lunch. So, you're stuck wondering if you should or shouldn't provide them lunch! This is always a controversial topic for many military families. We often hear questions asking if and what should be provided for the movers.
The answer? There is no right answer!
Some families choose to provide lunch; some choose to give them money for lunch; some choose to provide drinks, snacks, and give them a lunch break; some choose not to provide anything. Whatever you choose to do, know that you aren't required to provide anything, but it is always appreciated!
Although you aren't required to provide anything for your movers, it is always kind to consider providing some type of refreshment and/or snack if feasible for your family. Letting the movers go off and grab their own lunch is a great option and they may very well need that break, but they are more likely to get the job done quicker if they stay on-site.
With that said and if you choose to provide lunch, there is no need to think hard about the meal. You don't have to prepare an extravagant lunch. Pizza, subs, sandwiches and chips are always easy, good options.
Here is one thing we would recommend though! Have something too drink for the movers: water, soda, a refreshing sports drink, it doesn't matter! Giving them something refreshing to drink can help them go quicker and make them appreciative. Of course, you can skip out on doing this if you want! Unless you have signed a very, very odd contract, everything in this blog post is optional!
After all, you are trusting them with your belongings. Even if you know them for a brief period of time, it's still nice for them to feel good towards you. Providing them with a little snack, drink or even lunch is is one way to develop that appreciation.
We always enjoy spreading kindness here at The PCS Pro Team!
