Using a realtor is an important step in the home buying and selling process. You want to make sure this person has your intentions at heart and their goal is to help YOU during this time. After all, they will be representing you, so you should want someone who is knowledgeable, reputable, and honest! Before you choose an agent, you should interview them to make sure they are a right fit for you! We've compiled a list of some important questions you should ask your potential realtor!

1. How long have you been an agent?

2. What made you want to get into real estate?

3. Have you helped buyers find homes in the areas we are looking at?

4. How do you plan to accurately price my home?

5. Are you an independent agent or do you work with a team?

6. If you're on a team, what is your team's mission or goal?

7. How does your commission work?

8. How do you help buyers compete in this market?

9. Can you explain the process from start to finish?

10. Do you have reputable recommendations for lenders, home inspection companies, etc.?

11. How much does it cost if I use you as my realtor?

12. Can you explain earnest money?

13. What if I get cold feet?

14. How long does it take to close on a home? 

15. How much are homes in the area?

16. How is the market doing?

17. Can you help us find a new build, if so, how long would it take to build?

18. Why do I need to get pre-approved first?

19. How will you communicate with us through this process? 

20. I can't be there to physically see homes, so how will you show us homes?

21. What are things you look for and point out during showings? 

22. Do you think our wishlist is obtainable for the area we want to buy in?

23. Do you plan to host an open house in our home? What all would that entail?

24. How do you plan to market and advertise our home after we list it?

25. How many VA loans can I have out at once? 

27. Do I need a down payment? 

28. Do you have any references? 

29. What is your goal for us if we choose to use you as our agent?

Don't be afraid to question your potential agent. There's no such thing as a bad question, and your agent should be able to answer anything you ask them! This is your journey and you need someone there to help you get exactly what you want!
