Moving Checklist
Let's face it, there's a lot involved with moving. From changing your address, to services to cancel or transfer, to organization, to packing and storage, to the actual moving day--it can be overwhelming. Sometimes, even when we plan out our move, we can forget some major items. We complied a "Moving Checklist" to help ease the stress of moving when that time comes!
Change of Address:
1. U.S Postal Service
2. Drivers License
3. IRS
4. Social Security
5. Voter Registration
6. Banks
7. Loans
8. Investments
9. Credit Cards
10. Store Credit Cards
11. Paypal
12. Automated Payments
13. Place of Employment
14. Insurance
15. Doctors
16. Schools

Services to Cancel or Transfer:
1. Cable
2. Internet
3. Phone/Cell
4. Electric
5. Gas
6. Water
7. Sewer
8. Trash
9. Landscaping
10. House Cleaning
11. Pest Control
Organize:
1. Keep documents and financial documents in one box or in a binder
2. Update medical records
3. Notify old and new schools and arrange the transfer
4. Keep keys, garage openers in a bag for the new owners
5. Keep a folder with warranties and manuals for the new owners
6. Plan meals to use up the food you have
7. Save moving receipts
Packing and Storage:
1. Purge unused items
2. Reserve truck and/or movers
3. Reserve storage if needed
4. Pack infrequently used items ahead of time
5. Start a family "move kit" for the first night-week in your new home
Moving Day:
1. Arrange help for kids and/or pets for the day
2. Take photos of all boxes as packers pack your belongings
3. Final cleaning
4. Dispose of trash (movers have been known to pack a full trashcan)
5. Run garbage disposal
6. Final Walk Through
7. Turn off water heater
8. Lower shades
9. Lock all doors and windows
Creating a checklist specific to your family's needs is one way to ensure you get everything done before, during and after the moving process!
