We all know how frustrating it can be at times when you are a real estate agent. Maybe your buyers vetoed the 25th house you showed them or the market changed suddenly and it's even more brutal than before. Maybe you set a goal for yourself and you came in just short of your goal for the 3rd month in a row. We've all been there. We have all faced some type of stress or frustration in the field. The question is, how do we deal with it?

These four steps can help alleviate some of the stress that you may be facing:

  1. 1. Let go of those expectations.

Not all clients that you work with will be the same. You may work with a family who bends over backwards to give you everything you need to seal the deal on their dream home. Others will be like pulling teeth when trying to gather information. You cannot compare your clients and your experiences with them to others. You may bring stress and frustration upon yourself by having the same exact expectations for everyone that you work with. Simply go into every experience with an open mind and be flexible in the way you work.

2. Don't let the fear of failure take over you.

We all know this fear. Fear of the unknown; fear of failing both ourselves and our clients; fear of not reaching a goal. You have to throw that away and grow your mindset. Fear is a strong thing, but you are stronger. You must constantly grow your mind, say your affirmations, set attainable goals for yourself. Take it upon yourself to try something new each month. Maybe you want to listen to a new podcast or host your first open house. Push yourself no matter how scary it is because YOU are stronger than your fear.

3. Chat with your coach, mentor, and friends.

Sometimes it is helpful to have someone listen to you and then help you find ways to work out your frustrations. Remember, this should not be a venting session, rather a way to help yourself grow. Friends, coaches and mentors want you to succeed and can suggest ways to help that you might not have thought of. Don't stay stuck on where you are at or where you have been, but focus on where you are going!

4. Then, OVERCOME it!

Now combine everything you have done thus far and destroy those frustrations! Help that new family find their dream home, set a new goal for yourself, try something new, practice that tip that your coach gave you. It is normal to feel frustrated and stressed at times, but you have to get out of the funk before you can move on.

When you have failures, it is crucial that you embrace the struggle. Believe it or not, that struggle is part of your journey and will bring knowledge and experience, even if it is hard to see that now. Being a real estate agent has it frustrating moments, but think about how rewarding it is to help people find a place to call home. YOU are needed. YOU are patient. YOU are special.
