Spring and summer are upon us, and it's time to start doing some gardening! Whether it's your first time planting or you just don't know where to start, it is very possible to keep up with low maintenance indoor plants. There are many benefits of having plants indoors, including cleaner air quality and a pure, fresh scent within your home!

We've compiled a list of 6 low maintenance house plants that every homeowner should have!

1. Peace Lily: Peace Lily's have big, dark green leaves with bright white flowers, and match well in any space. We recommend keeping one in your bedroom or office because it's one of the most efficient house plants to filter the air.

Tip: Place your Peace Lily in a bright space and water when the soil is dry, or when the leaves start to droop.

2. Sansevieria: Often called the Snake Plant, this houseplant has sword shaped leaves that add height and greenery to any room. Due to it's extremely low maintenance, you can place it almost anywhere, including low lighted areas.

Tip: Water when the soil is dry to the touch.

3: Aloe Vera: Aloe plants thrive in the heat and sun but require minimal maintenance. This is a great houseplant to have in warmer climates where you could get sunburned, because the aloe works to soothe burnt skin.

Tip: Water when the top two inches of the soil are dry.

4. ZZ Plant: This plant is not only pleasing to the eye, but can thrive even when ignored. Because of this, you can place it in low light areas such as the corner of a bedroom or your living room, and it will continue to flourish.

Tip: The ZZ Plant can handle some drought, so it's best to water when the top two inches of the soil are dry.

5. Palms: Palms are one of those plants that you can 'plant and forget' about because it requires very little attention. Palms are nearly indestructible, as long as you don't overwater them. It grows slowly and adds the perfect touch to any space in a home.

Tip: Water when the top two inches of the soil are dry to the touch.

6. Dieffenbachia: The leaves on this plant make it more of an unusual houseplant, but don't let that scare you; it's easy to grow! This plant does better in warmer areas, so avoid placing it near an A/C vent or a window where a cool draft could get to it easily.

Tip: Water when the soil is dry.

Take a chance and grow a plant! It's easy than you think.
